The 203 children of the St. Michael’s First Communion class received the Eucharist for the first time at St. Michael Chaldean Catholic Church. The students were split into two groups, with the first receiving their First Communion on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 9AM and the second at 12PM. The Masses were both celebrated by His Excellency, Mar Shlemun Warduni, the Apostolic Administrator of St. Peter Diocese. Both Masses were also attended by the Pastor, Fr. Sabri Kejbo, as well as Fr. David, Fr. Royal, Fr. Faris and Fr. Fareed and a number of other clergy.
The children could hardly stand still from excitement as they arrived in the hall to line up before entering the Church. The Church was filled to capacity with family and friends who had all come to share this joyous day with their children. The First Communion Program at St. Michael’s is run by the sisters of the Workers of the Vineyard. They have diligently spent the last 9 months preparing the 103 boys and 99 girls for this momentous day.
