Qaurtarly Diocesan Meeting
April 25-26, 2006

Bishop Sarhad Jammo presided over the diocesan meeting along with the priests of the diocese, which will continue for 2 days, April 25 – 26.  The meeting started the evening of Tuesday the 25th to discuss the latest matters of the Chaldean Church, especially St. Peter Diocese, because his Excellency is departing for Iraq to participate in the general Patriarchal Synod.

Several issues were prepared to be discussed in the meeting.  The first issue that was discussed was the activity of his Excellency in the diocese and the news of his pastoral visits to the diocesan parishes.

The second issue that has been discussed was the proposal of building three new churches in our diocese.  The first church in Arizona, a church that holds approximately 600 faithful with a hall or basement underneath for pastoral activities of the parish.  The name of the Church will remain the same, St. Auraha Church.  Our lady of perpetual help is the second church that will be built in Sacramento which will hold around 400 faithful with a hall attached to the church.  The third church is the Rabban Hormizd chapel which will be built in St. George Monastery in Riverside and will hold around 120 faithful.

The third issue that was discussed by the fathers of the meeting was the case of the service of the Chaldean monks in our diocese.  They have discussed how to moderate the service of the Chaldean monks of the diocese and how they could help in reviving the new Monastery.

The fourth issue that was discussed in the meeting was the diocesan youth convention.  The convention of this year will be held in St. Paul Chaldean and Assyrian Church in North Hollywood.  Fr. Noel Gorgis presented a draft for the program, activities, lectures, etc.

These issues were discussed in the first meeting.
