The biannual Chaldean Youth Convention is taking place this weekend, from Thursday, June 3 through Sunday, July 3, 2016. The convention is hosted by a different parish each year. This year it is being hosted by St. Mary Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church. The theme for this year’s convention is “Sharing Mercy.”
The buses started arriving around 5pm with some of them traveling as long as 15 hours. After registration and a short dinner, the youth were taken to the church where they prayed Ramsha. His Excellency, Mar Shlemun Warduni, the Apostolic Administrator of St. Peter Diocese was in attendance and lead the prayer. He will be joining the youth for the weekend and it is a great blessing to have him.
The weekend consists of different activities and events, ranging from speakers to small groups, sight seeing and sports and tournaments. The St. Peter Diocese Youth Convention is a great opportunity to bring the youth of the diocese together. A special thanks to St. Mary’s and their wonderful team of leaders and volunteers who welcomed everyone so warmly and worked hard to make the convention a success.
