Good Friday began its services with Liturgical hymns and prayers as a tomb was placed on the altar behind a standing crucifix in order to represent what took place from the Cross of Christ to the tomb. His Excellency Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo led the prayers while the deacons chanted the readings from Holy Scripture followed by the Gospel reading and sermon given by Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo. Furthermore, His Excellency Mar Bawai Soro followed the sermon with a speech of his own.
With a full capacity at St. Peter Chaldean Cathedral His Excellency Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo continued with the Liturgical prayers as he placed a crucifix inside of the tomb leading to the procession of the altar by the bishops, priests, and deacons. After returning the tomb to the altar, the parishioners lined up for the kissing of the crucifix. The Church continued the passion Friday service with Chaldean and English prayers throughout the evening. Enjoy the pictures displayed below from the event.
