Thousands from all over San Diego County gathered in prayer for persecuted Iraqi Christians at the Civic Center in El Cajon on Friday, July 25.
Elected officials, community leaders and Christian leaders of all denominations united in support of Christians who have fallen victim to the violence that is spreading across Iraq. Dignitaries in attendance included El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells, El Cajon City Council, His Excellency Bishop Mar Sarhad Jammo, Skyline Church Pastor Dr. Jim Garlow, Foothills Church Pastor Mark Hoffman, and more.
The event was organized by City Transformation, San Diego Leadership Forum and the Chaldean Council for Public Affairs. It was featured in a number of newspapers and on several local TV stations.
The vigil was attended by hundreds of members of our diocese, and we thank you all for your support for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
