Seventy youth from six different parishes in St. Peter Diocese gathered in San Jose on the weekend of November 1-3, 2013. The occassion was the first ever Diocesan Retreat, a retreat open to all the youth of St. Peter Diocese. The Resurrection Retreat was fascilitated by the Seminarians of Mar Abba the Great and the Workers of the Vineyard. Fr. Michael Barrota of St. Mary’s Parish as well as Fr. Andrew Younan from St. Peter’s Cathedral were also present on the retreat. Thanks to these beloved clergy, confession was made availalbe to the youth during the retreat. Through the different talks, activities and small groups, the retreatants were able to draw closer to Christ as well as come together as a community.
Surrounded by the giant Redwoods or Northern California, the youth were able to enjoy the wonder of God’s creation at Camp Redwood Glen in Scotts Valley. The retreatants arrived from their different parishes on Friday evening, the farthest group coming from San Diego. We pray that the abundant graces these young people received on The Resurrection Retreat may overflow into their surrounding community and families.
