On Friday evening at 7PM, St. Peter Cathedral was packed with parishoners who had gathered for a special Prayer Service. The community came together to pray for children suffering from cancer, especially a child of one of St. Peter’s regular parishoners, Julia Garmo. The prayer service was lead by Fr. Andrew Younan who spoke briefly in the beginning about Julia’s condition as well as other children in the community suffering from cancer. He then lead the church in praying the Rosary.
His Excellency, Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, was also present at the prayer service and gave a special blessing at the end. It was a tremendous sight to see the church filled with people like it was a Sunday morning Mass. Entire families with their children came to show their support and offer their prayers. A number of children from the St. Peter’s Communion classes also attended the prayer service.
