Former Senator Waddie Deddeh (the first ever Iraqi-American politician) came to St. Peter’s Educational Center, Wednesday August 14th, to talk to the Chaldean Scouts about his own personal journey in becoming a Chaldean American. Deddeh spoke of his upbringing, his immigration, his political runnings, and his accomplishments with Caltrans, before taking questions from the inquisitive Scouts.

The rest of the day was designated as “Chaldean Recreation Day” where the kids were taught how to play backgammon and dance numerous cultural dances such as the khigga. The Chaldean Scouts express their gratitude to all the guest speakers who participated today, and eagerly anticipate the upcoming end-of-the-year celebrations to take place next week.
