On Friday, May 24, 2013, a group of 15 young people headed up to St. George Monastery for the Artist Retreat. The retreat is based on the Acts 3 passage when Peter and John heal the cripple at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. The title of the retreat, “The Gate Called Beautiful: A Retreat for Artists”, comes from this passage. The retreat was lead by Fr. Andrew Younan and was a refreshing experience for all the artists who attended. Through the different talks, the retreatants were able to gain a deeper understanding of how their art is an imitation of nature. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere of St. George Monastery made it the perfect environment to connect with God through the different talks and personal time the retreatants had to work on their art.
