n the weekend of March 4-5, 2012, a group of 25 women drove up to St. George Monastery for a lenten retreat. The retreat was based on the passion of Christ found in John’s Gospel and focused on the part Our Lady had to play. Looking through the eyes of Mother Mary, the retreatants were able to experience the passion of Christ in a way they never had before.
“When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!'”
Through the different talks and activities, the women were able to truly contemplate how to be true children of Our Lady. Mar Bawai Soro spent most of Saturday at St. George leading the retreat, giving talks, hearing confessions, and offering guidence to the retreatants. His talks and discussion with the women allowed them to go deeper into what Jesus and his mother went through. He was a true blessing to the retreat and we are thankful to have had him.
