The parishioners at St. Matthew Church celebrated the “Bautha” Supplication of the Ninevites with prayers and hymns on the evenings of Monday January 30 through Wednesday February 1, 2012. On Wednesday February 1, Father Michael Barota, our Parish Pastor, celebrated the Holy Mass. Father Barota gave an inspiring homily about Jonah the Prophet and the lessons that we should learn from both Jonah’s story and the faith of the people of Nineveh.
After the Holy Mass concluded, the faithful attending the service gathered at the church hall and shared a light dinner prepared by the church members. We were also blessed to receive a visit from Fr. Awraha Mansoor, the Pastor of St. Thomas Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church in Turlock-CA, as he joined us and shared a meal with us that evening.
